Prague, February 15, 2026

World Active, the global platform representing the fitness and physical activity sector, has reached a pivotal milestone as it formally transitions into full operational status. Established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, World Active has evolved into a unified voice for the sector, championing the role of physical activity in global public health.

Following its official registration, World Active now boasts a permanent headquarters in Prague, a robust banking infrastructure, and a comprehensive governance framework—providing the foundation for impactful international collaboration.

World Active was founded to:

– Strengthen cooperation among fitness and physical activity organizations worldwide,

– Advance knowledge-sharing, research, and advocacy,

– Position physical activity as an essential pillar of public health and prevention strategies.

Guided by an international board—Amy Boone Thompson (IDEA Health & Fitness Association, North America), Samir Kapoor (India Active, Asia), David Stalker (EuropeActive, Europe), Richard Beddie (Exercise New Zealand, Oceania), and Jana Havrdová (Czech Chamber of Fitness, Europe)—the initiative has built on the foundational work of the World Active Forum and the collective expertise of national and continental associations.

Importantly, World Active is designed to complement, not compete with, existing national and international fitness associations. Our mission is to foster coordination and joint action in addressing global challenges and opportunities for the sector.

“World Active was founded on the belief that the fitness and physical activity sector can play a transformative role in supporting population physical and mental health. Today, we have the structure in place to deliver on this vision in a systematic and global way,” said the World Active Board.

With Prague as its headquarters—a location symbolizing both international cooperation and national commitment to active lifestyles—World Active is poised to drive forward its mission.

Membership for 2026 is now open, and preparations are underway for the next World Active Summit, to be held in conjunction with Rimini Wellness. This event will unite leaders from fitness, public health, education, and policy to advance shared priorities.

World Active remains steadfast in its vision: More people, more active, more often.
